Teacup Pomeranians: what the word really means
Teacup is a marketing word, not an AKC variety. Pomeranians are already a toy breed. Extra-tiny puppies are not a separate, healthier type with a special registry. They are small dogs, sometimes from small parents, sometimes from a litter that simply produced a finer-boned baby, and sometimes from a seller who needs a word that photographs well.
How we talk about size
We share current weight, estimated adult range, and parent sizes. Some of our dogs finish smaller. Some finish a sturdy six to eight pounds. Structure and health matter more than fitting in a cup. A compact, well-made Pomeranian with a proper coat and a kind temperament is the goal. A puppy advertised as a guaranteed two-pound adult is a promise we will not make, because bodies do not take dictation from a listing title.
Risks of chasing tiny
Very small dogs can have more fragile bones, more dental crowding, and more blood-sugar swings. They can be harder to keep warm and easier to injure when a child drops them. None of that makes them more precious. It makes them more work and, in the worst cases, more veterinary risk. We do not breed down to an extreme to win a search result. We also will not shame a naturally small puppy. We will describe the puppy in pounds and weeks, not in tableware.
Reading listings with a colder eye
If a page uses teacup, micro, or tiny tiny in every sentence and cannot produce vaccine dates or a veterinarian exam, keep walking. If the only photos are tight face crops with no sense of scale, ask for a video with a soda can or a kitchen scale in the frame. If the price jumps because of a color word, ask what else changed. Color is real. Magic size is usually not.
Choosing honestly at Evergold
If you want a lap companion who still has bone and bounce, we will help you pick that puppy. If you want the smallest possible adult no matter the tradeoffs, we will tell you we are the wrong kennel and why. Our current litter is priced at $1,250, eight weeks old, and shown in owner photographs. That is enough truth to start a conversation. The rest belongs on WhatsApp or email, where we can send a current weight and a video instead of another adjective.
